"Pop stars are, to some extent, symbolic vehicles with which young women understand themselves more fully, even if by doing so they partly shapre their personalities to fit the stars' alleged preferences" - Paul Willis, 1990.

This quote suggests that pop stars act as role models for women by unconsciously inspiring them to change so they are almost the same as them; this can include women acting the same as their pop star role models, dressing in the same way and listening to their music. The quote also suggests that women are shaped by the pop stars as their imitated behaviours  have replaced their original identities in order to be alike with their idol, yet this quote can also apply to men who inspire to male pop stars and also carry out the same tasks to be similar.

"Ever since I started dancing, I have had a passion for Pop as a genre of music as it is vibrant and energetic. Also, most of the female pop artist are very stylish, appealing and great at what they do which grabs my attention right away; I wouldnt mind singing or dancing along a well-known pop singer myself! I find that pop songs relate to young people, like me, who enjoy enjoying themselves with their friends or at parties; I confess to being a pop-fan!"
